Petroleum coke
Petroleum coke, or petcoke, is a carbon-rich solid material produced from all types of crude oil—both light and heavy—during the oil refining process.
Petroleum coke is a valuable and essential commercial product, used in a wide range of industries including aluminum manufacturing, fuel blending, steelmaking, glass, cement, paint, and fertilizer production.
There are four basic types of petroleum coke: needle coke, honeycomb coke, sponge coke, and shot coke. Each type has a distinct microstructure due to variations in processing conditions and feedstock composition. These differences also lead to variations in properties such as ash and volatile matter content. Needle coke, also known as acicular coke, is a highly crystalline form of petcoke used in the production of electrodes for the steel and aluminum industries.
To support the growing demand from Chinese industries, we import petroleum coke from around the world—especially low-sulfur petcoke and high-grade needle coke.
