Group II Base Oil — 100N, 150N & 500N
Three hydrocracked grades with over 99% saturates and ultra-low sulphur. The modern base stock for engine oils, ATF and premium industrial lubricants. Sourced through Sinolook's multi-supplier network anchored by major Chinese refineries.
The modern base stock for premium lubricants
Group II base oil is hydrocracked paraffinic base oil — the workhorse base stock that replaced Group I in modern engine oil and ATF formulations.
Through severe hydrocracking and catalytic dewaxing, Group II achieves over 99% saturates and sulphur below 30 ppm — dramatically improving oxidation stability, volatility (Noack) and colour compared to solvent-refined Group I. The result: longer drain intervals, better OEM approvals and reliable performance in API SN, SP, ACEA C2/C3 and dexos formulations.
Sinolook offers a complete Group II portfolio: 100N and 150N for light to medium viscosity, plus 500N for heavy-grade applications — all sourced through our multi-supplier network anchored by major Chinese state-owned refineries including Sinopec, CNOOC and Sinochem.
Ultra-High Saturates
Over 99% saturates — exceptional oxidation stability and longer drain intervals.
Ultra-Low Sulphur
Sulphur below 3 ppm in 100N/150N — compatible with modern after-treatment systems.
Multi-Source Network
Multiple Chinese state-owned refinery sources (Sinopec, CNOOC, Sinochem) — supply security & flexibility.
OEM-Ready
Suitable for API SN/SP, ACEA C2/C3, GM dexos1 and MB-229 engine oil formulations.
Diversified Group II sourcing — supply security through flexibility
Sinolook builds Group II supply chains differently from single-source distributors. By integrating multiple producers — anchored by major Chinese state-owned refineries with occasional international sourcing — we deliver consistent product availability, competitive pricing, and the flexibility to match specific batch requirements for each customer.
Sinopec
China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation
Asia's largest integrated energy & chemical company. Multiple hydrocracking complexes producing Group II 100N / 150N / 500N to consistent quality standards.
CNOOC
China National Offshore Oil Corporation
Major Chinese state-owned producer with modern hydrocracking facilities. Reliable Group II 500N supply with stable batch-to-batch consistency.
Sinochem
China National Chemical Corporation
Diversified state-owned chemicals group. Strategic Group II base oil sourcing for premium lubricant blending applications.
International Cargoes
Asia-Pacific spot market sourcing
Selective supplementary sourcing from regional producers (including Formosa Plastics, SK and others) when batch specifications or commercial terms benefit our customers.

The hydrocracking process
Group II is produced through severe catalytic hydrocracking — a high-pressure hydrogen-treatment process that saturates aromatic compounds and removes sulphur, producing premium base oil that solvent refining cannot match.
Why blenders are switching from Group I to Group II
If you currently formulate with Group I (SN150, SN500, BS150), upgrading to Group II 150N or 500N typically delivers longer drain intervals, better OEM compliance, and lower volatility — at a competitive cost premium.

Frequently asked questions
What is Group II base oil?
What is the difference between Group I and Group II base oil?
Group II is hydrocracked: >99% saturates, <30 ppm sulphur, VI 95–120, water-clear (Saybolt +30).
Group II offers significantly better oxidation stability, longer drain intervals and OEM compliance — it's the standard for modern engine oils, ATF and premium industrial lubricants.
Where does Sinolook source Group II 500N from?
Why does 500N have a lower viscosity index than 100N or 150N?
For HDDO 15W-40, this VI is more than adequate. For applications requiring VI >120 at 500N viscosity (e.g. premium PCMO 10W-40 with low Noack), consider blending Group II with Group III ADbase 6 cSt or 8 cSt.
Which Group II grade should I choose?
• 100N (KV100 = 3.8) — automatic transmission fluid (ATF), 0W-20 / 5W-20 engine oils, low-vis hydraulic, refrigeration oil base.
• 150N (KV100 = 6.1) — the workhorse for PCMO 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, premium industrial lubricants, gear oil blending.
• 500N (KV100 = 10.3) — HDDO 15W-40 (CK-4, CJ-4), ISO VG 100–220 gear oils, marine system oils, VI booster.
What OEM approvals do Sinolook Group II grades support?
What documents accompany each shipment?
• Third-party SGS Certificate of Quality (with loading-port inspection)
• Manufacturer Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each batch
• Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
• Bill of Lading, packing list, commercial invoice
• Certificate of Origin (on request)
