Product Overview

The modified silicone for foam control with better air release

Standard silicone antifoam can slow air release. Modifying the siloxane with ester groups improves air release while retaining strong foam control — a better balance for many oils.

Dimethylsiloxane ester antifoam is a modified silicone in which ester groups are introduced onto the siloxane structure. This modification tunes the antifoam's solubility and surface behaviour to improve air release compared with conventional PDMS, while retaining strong surface foam control. It is valuable where both fast air release and foam control matter — such as hydraulic and circulating oils — giving a better balance than standard silicone without going fully silicone-free. It is part of the antifoam agents range and sits between PDMS and silicone-free types.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is dimethylsiloxane ester antifoam used for?
Dimethylsiloxane ester antifoam is a modified silicone antifoam that balances strong foam control with improved air release. Ester groups on the siloxane tune its behaviour so it controls surface foam like PDMS but releases entrained air better. It is used in hydraulic, circulating, engine and industrial oils where both foam control and air release matter.
How is it better than standard silicone antifoam?
Standard PDMS silicone is a powerful foam controller but can slow the release of entrained air. The ester modification in dimethylsiloxane ester antifoam improves air release while keeping strong foam control, giving a better balance for oils — such as hydraulic oils — where trapped air causes pump cavitation and poor response. See PDMS silicone antifoam.
When should I use modified silicone vs silicone-free antifoam?
Modified silicone (dimethylsiloxane ester) gives strong foam control with improved air release — a good middle ground. Fully silicone-free antifoam is chosen when air release is absolutely critical (e.g. turbine oils) or silicone is undesirable. The choice depends on how critical air release is and any silicone restrictions. See silicone-free antifoam.
Does it work in hydraulic oils?
Yes. Dimethylsiloxane ester antifoam is well suited to hydraulic oils because they need both foam control and fast air release to prevent pump cavitation and maintain precise response. Its improved air release over standard silicone makes it a strong choice for hydraulic and circulating oils. See hydraulic oil additives.
Can Sinolook provide TDS, MSDS and COA?
Yes. TDS, MSDS (GHS-format SDS) and a batch-specific COA are provided for every grade in English or Chinese. Sinolook supplies dimethylsiloxane ester antifoam in appropriate packaging including drums, IBCs and bulk to over 60 countries. Email sales@sinolook.com or message us on WhatsApp.
