Product Overview

The low-volatility phenolic for high-temperature oils

By building the hindered phenol onto a high-molecular-weight ester backbone, these antioxidants resist evaporation — staying in the oil to protect it at high temperatures over long service.

High-molecular phenolic ester antioxidants attach the hindered-phenol antioxidant function to a high-molecular-weight ester backbone, dramatically reducing volatility. Lower-molecular-weight phenolics like DBPC can evaporate at high temperatures, reducing their long-term effectiveness; the high-MW ester structure keeps the antioxidant in the oil where it is needed, giving superior high-temperature and long-life oxidation protection. This makes them valuable in modern low-SAPS engine oils, high-temperature industrial oils and long-drain applications. They are ashless and part of the antioxidant & anticorrosion range.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are high-molecular phenolic ester antioxidants used for?
High-molecular phenolic ester antioxidants are low-volatility hindered phenolic antioxidants used in high-temperature and long-life oils. By building the phenol onto a high-molecular-weight ester backbone, they resist evaporation, staying in the oil to provide sustained oxidation protection — ideal for modern low-SAPS engine oils, turbine oils and long-drain industrial oils.
Why does low volatility matter in an antioxidant?
At high temperatures, lower-molecular-weight antioxidants like DBPC can evaporate out of the oil, reducing their long-term effectiveness. A high-molecular-weight phenolic ester resists this evaporation, staying in the oil where it continues to protect against oxidation. This is especially important for high-temperature and long-drain oils that must keep their oxidation protection over extended service. See DBPC.
How do phenolic ester antioxidants differ from DBPC?
Both are ashless hindered phenolic antioxidants, but DBPC is a lower-molecular-weight molecule that can volatilize at high temperatures, while high-molecular phenolic esters are built for very low volatility. For high-temperature, long-life oils, the phenolic ester keeps protecting where DBPC might evaporate — at the cost of being a more sophisticated additive. Both can be used with aminic antioxidants.
Are these suitable for low-SAPS engine oils?
Yes. High-molecular phenolic ester antioxidants are ashless, adding no sulphated ash, phosphorus or sulphur, which suits low-SAPS engine oils. Their low volatility also helps these oils maintain oxidation protection over the long drains modern engines demand, making them a strong choice for advanced low-SAPS formulations.
Can Sinolook provide TDS, MSDS and COA?
Yes. TDS, MSDS (GHS-format SDS) and a batch-specific COA are provided for every grade in English or Chinese. Sinolook supplies high-molecular phenolic ester antioxidants in drum, IBC, flexitank and ISO tank quantities to over 60 countries. Email sales@sinolook.com or message us on WhatsApp.
