Product Overview

The high-dispersancy workhorse dispersant

Bis-succinimide dispersants attach two polyisobutylene chains to the polyamine head, giving higher dispersancy and thermal stability than mono types — the workhorse of modern engine oils.

PIB bis-succinimide is a high-performance ashless dispersant with two polyisobutylene (PIB) chains bonded to the polyamine head. This bis structure delivers strong dispersancy and good thermal stability, making it the workhorse dispersant for modern passenger car and diesel engine oils that must control sludge and soot over long drains. It suspends contaminants in fine suspension, preventing deposits and viscosity increase, and is used with detergents to keep engines clean. It is part of the ashless dispersant family.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is PIB bis-succinimide used for?
PIB bis-succinimide is a high-performance ashless dispersant used in engine oils to suspend sludge, soot and oxidation products. Its two polyisobutylene chains give strong dispersancy and good thermal stability, making it the workhorse dispersant for modern passenger car and diesel oils that must stay clean over long drains. It works alongside detergents.
Why is bis-succinimide preferred for diesel oils?
Diesel engines generate heavy soot, which requires strong dispersancy to keep finely suspended and prevent viscosity increase. PIB bis-succinimide's two PIB chains provide the higher dispersancy and thermal stability diesel oils need, which is why bis and poly types are favoured for soot control in HDDO. See diesel engine oil additives.
What is the difference between mono, bis and poly succinimide?
These describe how many polyisobutylene chains attach to the dispersant. Mono has one (good low-temperature dispersancy and seal compatibility); bis has two (strong dispersancy and thermal stability — the workhorse); poly has multiple high-molecular-weight couplings (highest dispersancy for the heaviest soot loads). Formulators choose by the dispersancy and seal balance required.
Does bis-succinimide affect seal compatibility?
Dispersant nitrogen can interact with elastomer seals, so seal compatibility is a formulation consideration. Bis-succinimide provides strong dispersancy; where seal compatibility is critical, formulators balance dispersant type and treat rate, or use borated grades that can improve seal behaviour. See borated PIB bis-succinimide.
Can Sinolook provide TDS, MSDS and COA?
Yes. TDS, MSDS (GHS-format SDS) and a batch-specific COA are provided for every grade in English or Chinese. Sinolook supplies PIB bis-succinimide in drum, IBC, flexitank and ISO tank quantities to over 60 countries. Email sales@sinolook.com or message us on WhatsApp.
