Product Overview

The antifoam for excellent air release

When air release is critical, silicone-free antifoam wins. Organic antifoams control foam while allowing entrained air to escape fast — essential for turbine and demanding oils.

Silicone-free antifoam is an organic (typically polyacrylate-type) antifoam that controls foam while giving excellent air release. Because silicone antifoam can slow air release at higher doses, silicone-free types are preferred where releasing entrained air fast is critical — above all in turbine oils, and in other demanding oils where trapped air must escape quickly. They are also used where silicone is undesirable for downstream or process reasons. Foam control is gentler than powerful silicone, so dosing is tuned to the application. It is part of the antifoam agents range and is central to turbine oil formulation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is silicone-free antifoam used for?
Silicone-free antifoam is an organic (polyacrylate-type) antifoam that controls foam while giving excellent air release. It is the preferred antifoam for air-release-critical oils — above all turbine oils — and for applications where silicone is undesirable. Where silicone antifoam can slow air release, silicone-free types let entrained air escape fast.
Why do turbine oils use silicone-free antifoam?
Turbine oils cannot tolerate entrained air, which reduces bearing film strength, causes erratic governor response and accelerates oxidation. Silicone antifoam, while powerful at surface foam, can slow air release. Silicone-free antifoam controls foam while allowing fast air release, which is why it is the preferred choice for turbine oils. See industrial & marine additives.
How does silicone-free antifoam compare with silicone?
Silicone (PDMS) antifoam is more powerful at controlling surface foam at very low dose but can slow air release. Silicone-free (organic) antifoam gives gentler foam control but excellent air release. The choice depends on which property is critical: silicone for maximum foam control, silicone-free for air release. Modified silicone sits in between. See PDMS silicone antifoam.
When is silicone undesirable in an oil?
Silicone can be undesirable where it might interfere with downstream processes, paint or coating operations, or where very fast air release is essential and silicone would compromise it. In these cases silicone-free antifoam provides foam control without introducing silicone. Turbine oils are the classic example, prioritizing air release. See hydraulic oil additives.
Can Sinolook provide TDS, MSDS and COA?
Yes. TDS, MSDS (GHS-format SDS) and a batch-specific COA are provided for every grade in English or Chinese. Sinolook supplies silicone-free antifoam in drum, IBC, flexitank and ISO tank quantities to over 60 countries. Email sales@sinolook.com or message us on WhatsApp.
