Product Overview

The sulphur-free molybdenum friction and antioxidant additive

A molybdenum-amine complex provides friction reduction and antioxidancy, with sulphur-free grades available for applications sensitive to sulphur or seeking a different molybdenum chemistry.

Molybdenum amine complex is an oil-soluble organomolybdenum additive based on a molybdenum-amine structure, providing friction reduction and antioxidant performance. Sulphur-free grades are available, valuable in applications sensitive to active sulphur or where a different molybdenum chemistry to the dithio types is preferred. It reduces friction to support fuel economy and contributes oxidation protection, complementing the dithiocarbamate and dithiophosphate molybdenum additives. It is part of the anti-wear agents range and used in engine and industrial oils.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is molybdenum amine complex used for?
Molybdenum amine complex is an oil-soluble molybdenum additive providing friction reduction and antioxidant performance in engine and industrial oils. Sulphur-free grades are available for applications sensitive to active sulphur. It supports fuel economy through friction reduction and adds oxidation protection, complementing the dithiocarbamate (MoDTC) and dithiophosphate (MoDTP) molybdenum types.
Why choose a sulphur-free molybdenum additive?
Some applications are sensitive to active sulphur — for example where yellow-metal corrosion or certain seal and catalyst interactions are a concern. A sulphur-free molybdenum amine complex provides molybdenum's friction reduction and antioxidancy without contributing active sulphur, giving formulators an alternative to the sulphur-containing dithio molybdenum types. See MoDTC.
How does it compare with MoDTC and MoDTP?
MoDTC and MoDTP are dithio molybdenum types that form MoS₂ friction-reducing films and contain sulphur; MoDTP also contains phosphorus. Molybdenum amine complex offers friction reduction and antioxidancy through a different, amine-based chemistry, with sulphur-free options. The choice depends on the friction, antioxidant, sulphur and phosphorus requirements of the formulation.
Does molybdenum amine complex reduce friction?
Yes. Like other oil-soluble molybdenum additives, molybdenum amine complex reduces boundary friction to support fuel economy, while also contributing antioxidant protection. The degree of friction reduction depends on the grade and the rest of the formulation — refer to the TDS. It is used where molybdenum friction performance with a sulphur-free option is desired.
Can Sinolook provide TDS, MSDS and COA?
Yes. TDS, MSDS (GHS-format SDS) and a batch-specific COA are provided for every grade in English or Chinese. Sinolook supplies molybdenum amine complex in drum, IBC, flexitank and ISO tank quantities to over 60 countries. Email sales@sinolook.com or message us on WhatsApp.
